Photo & Story by Lance Phillips
These images were taken at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas, with my giant medium-format SLR (single-lens reflex), the Pentax 67. This film camera from yesteryear still produces hyper-real, almost surreal, images. Its 105 mm f2.4 lens is one of the world’s most celebrated, and you can see why. At wide apertures, this lens separates subject from background in a way that modern photography equipment hasn’t matched (except for maybe Hasselblad and Leica). Next time you’re in Dallas, check out the museum. And if you snap some great photos, send them my way.
