Artificial Intelligence. It’s a polarizing topic, but one we need to grapple with because the AI-age is truly upon us. In June, during the annual gathering of Pinnacle Air Network members, I invited the leaders of Ironfleet.ai to present to our group. Ironfleet is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) AI system designed to make those who work on your aircraft more efficient and accurate – improving your experience and lowering costs while in the shop. Records maintenance, turn times, and return-to-service checks are also simplified and improved.
Fleetcraft is another MRO AI company on the ground floor of this effort to improve the way you service your aircraft. I had a call with Fleetcraft’s CEO, Finn Quinlan, the morning I wrote this brief. Finn is based in London but travels often to the States.
When asked about the competitive landscape and how AI companies differentiate themselves, Finn says it comes down to the people behind the platforms. Fleetcraft employs aviation veterans who know the MRO business. The Ironfleet.ai team comes from Microsoft and Boeing.
“Some processes that used to take six to eight hours of work can now take as little as 25 minutes,” according to Finn.
My experience with AI: Between May and the end of July this year, I embarked on a theoretical mathematics project with Anthropic’s Claude AI system. I wanted to see if I could prove Bernhard Riemann’s Hypothesis (RH). I haven’t proved RH… yet. But along the way, the collaboration has netted several mathematical discoveries, including several new laws and theorems. In total, the three-month project resulted in eight PhD-level theoretical mathematics papers. The real discovery, though, is the collaborative methods used in the project.
