2 • TWIN & TURBINEDECEMBER 2012editor’sbriefingIhave asked LeRoy Cook to allow me to write this issue’s editorial. As Publications Director here at Village Press, I’m not involved with T&T in an editorial or creative capacity; my job is to look at the business side of things, which brings me to the point I want to make. It’s no secret that the magazine business is changing. The digital world has done that, and magazines that have resisted, depending upon the demographic they appeal to, don’t stand a lot of chance of continuing as they have. These changes have to be embraced, and that’s what we are doing.Every issue of T&T is available in a digital version and can be accessed by computer, Smart Phone, and iPad. Most of us have our phones with us all the time, and iPad users rarely seem to go anywhere without theirs in hand. It’s a little more difficult to remember to toss a hard copy of a magazine into a flight bag to read later.Coupled with this, it’s no secret that pilots and those who love aviation are among the most technically savvy folks found anywhere, some of the first to check out any new digital development – the first iPad I ever saw in real life was in the hands of our company owner, an avid pilot, a few years back. What I’m leading up to is this: We are going to continue to produce both a monthly print and digital version of T&T as wehave. But the print versions will come to you only every other month – half of the readership one month, half the next. We will track the viewership of the digital versions as a way of gauging their acceptance – will the readership of those versions increase because of the reduction in hard copy issues? With that information, we will make some decisions about the presentation of our issues to you. We’ll keep you posted on our progress. We are always interested in what you have to say and value your opinion. Any questions or comments can be sent directly to me: smith@villagepress.com.Meanwhile, thanks for reading, safe flying, and have a good holiday season.Steven R. Smith Publications Director Village Press, Inc.Thanks, Steve. I echo your sentiments and also send every good wish to our readers for enjoyable holidays and a great New Year.Digital IssuesLeRoy CookLeRoy Cook, Editor
